The burial place of Edward Burleson, Texas Revolutionary general and vice-president of the Republic of Texas, 22 acres Texas State Cemetery is east of downtown Austin, the Texas capital. During the civil war, the cemetery was expanded to include the graves and cenotaphs of prominent Texans and their spouses. The cemetery is divided into two sections - smaller one containing about 900 graves of prominent Texans and larger having 2000 marked graves.
